Insetting with sustainable fuels in transportation means reducing carbon emissions within a company’s own supply chain by using cleaner fuels, like biofuels or renewable diesel, instead of fossil fuels. Unlike offsetting, which compensates for emissions elsewhere (e.g., planting trees), insetting directly cuts emissions at the source, making the company’s operations more sustainable.
The Book & Claim system is a way to support sustainable fuels without physically using them. Instead of transporting the actual fuel, companies buy certificates proving that a certain amount of sustainable fuel has been produced and used elsewhere. This allows businesses to reduce their carbon footprint even if they can’t access the fuel directly.
Gryn users can buy Sustainable Fuels via the Book & Claim process and thus effectively reduce their emissions in transportation. In addition, certificates from third-party providers can be logged with Gryn to document the reduction even if they were not realized via Gryn.
The Insetting section can be opened directly via the list icon in the menu bar.
